Hi Gary, VERY pleased to say parcel arrived safely here today. Fabulous model !!! Looks good enough to eat ! Cheers, F Savery. Tasmania
Here is a review sent in by one of the first to get one of these models. He bought the Number 2 version;
"An Australian plastic ready-to-Run model in On30? You better believe it! The Coffee Pot railcar (the prototype is now preserved by the Pitchi Richie Railway in South Australia) was an inspired choice by Ixion. A railcar is a complete train, perfect for small layouts, and distinct enough to not get lost on larger ones.
The model arrived packed in foam cradle, within a sturdy box. One needs to be fairly careful removing it from the foam, but once extracted, the railcar is a delight. Lots of small details are evident, a full interior, and fully painted in "preserved" livery. Perhaps this is the one aspect I didn't like, the application of aqua coloured paint seemed to detract. However, this is a personal matter, and easily fixed with a paint brush.
On the track, the railcar is sure-footed - traversing peco HO pointwork easily. The model has 4 driving wheels for traction, the engine weight is correctly positioned above the drivers, and all 8 wheels pickup. There is a bit of engine whine, but this should tone down after some running. I suspect the minimum radius will be around 450mm. A DCC socket is provided. That would enable the lights to come on fully when running slow - running under DC power the light output varied with the track voltage.
The Coffee-Pot is available in 2 versions. The prototype version (without a rear drivers compartment), and a "what might have been" version with a rear driving position - ideal for those of us without a turntable, or "wye" to turn it..
Recommended."
