HISTORY: -
The first of members of the 1600 class locomotives where introduced to Queensland Railways in early 1963. The eighteen strong class where primarily designed for branch line workings. The vast majority of the class where eventually to be found in service throughout the Central Division. Unlike many types of locomotive in Australia, the Cab end was regarded as the number 2 end. Running numbers are, 1600-1617.
