HISTORY:-
The VAKG and VGK Class grain hoppers were modified from conventional VAK class coal hoppers with the addition of an “ECOFAB” roof. The VAKGs were designed to replace QR’s ageing fleet of WHE open wagons. In all there were only fifteen VAK wagons converted in this way. Several VAK wagons were reclassified to VGK when fitted with the same roofs as the VAKG wagons.
